Craving Community: Embracing Godly Fellowship in a Busy World

One of the deepest desires of my heart is to experience Godly fellowship—where men and women gather around tables and sit together in living rooms with thankful hearts and genuine appreciation for one another.

This week, my wife and I have been busy decorating our home for the upcoming autumn season, and it has reignited my passion for Godly hospitality and fellowship. I must admit, I haven't always prioritized this as I should, and I think I understand why: we're all busy. Our lives are filled with hectic schedules, and I believe that’s exactly what the enemy wants. He knows that lives can be transformed around dinner tables and kitchen islands, so he distracts us with busyness to prevent us from achieving that level of meaningful connection.

Imagine the impact if we truly understood what could happen when we gather to discuss family dynamics, worldviews, work, hobbies, sports—all centered around the goal of advancing the Kingdom. Our lives would be utterly transformed. If we made it a priority to come together at least twice a week, sharing good meals, drinks, and conversations, I believe the levels of anxiety and depression would diminish.

Proverbs 18:1 says, "Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment."

It’s easy to isolate ourselves in our homes, limiting our interactions to what we see on social media. But God designed us for community, even with all our flaws and quirks. Why? Because through community, God sanctifies us. In a community, there are fewer family conflicts, fewer divorces, and marriages thrive. Children raised in regular biblical community are more balanced and better adjusted.

In short, we need each other.

So why am I sharing this? Because I am genuinely craving community. And if I want something to happen, I’m going to take the lead and make it happen. Our home is officially open to anyone who desires fellowship. It’s a place where men and women can come to know more about the person and work of King Jesus. We’re going to share more dinners with friends and family. We’re going to have meaningful, world-changing conversations. We’re going to laugh, feast, encourage one another, and pursue the things Jesus has called us to accomplish. I believe that so much of what He wants us to achieve can be done around a dinner table and on a couch.

Come on over!
