Don't Waste Your Motherhood - A Tribute To Godly Mothers

Titus 2:4-8

These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.

We honor mom this coming weekend. Motherhood is one of the most significant professions in the entire universe. Mothers, you have the ability to mold and shape the heart and mind of your children. Every day, my mother would do this.

My mother always took the time to point me in the direction of King Jesus, and for that I am grateful. She made an effort to ensure that we knew Jesus was King over everything, no matter what she was doing. Whether it was in the kitchen, the house, organizing a gathering, singing a song, or paying attention in church or Sunday School, she made sure we knew that we did what we did because Jesus had given us the opportunity to do so and that we didn't need to waste what the Lord had given us.  She made sure we knew that Jesus was the reason behind everything, even in the smallest details. Scripture references identified Jesus as the light of the world on the light switches in our homes. My mother's life in every detail demonstrated to us that Jesus was King.

In addition to spending time modeling for us what it meant to follow and love Jesus, my mother also made it her mission to assist other women in doing the same. As she grew older, she invested in younger mothers and took Titus 2 seriously. She was a great help to many younger women in realizing that their kids were blessings rather than liabilities. She honored and loved my dad, setting an example for young brides to follow. My wife is a better wife and mother because of the Godly example of how my mom discipled her. Furthermore, up until two weeks prior to her elevation to glory, she diligently taught a Sunday school class for young children every week. My mother's grace-filled, Christ-centered approach to understanding that Jesus is at the center of everything we do has helped countless mothers and kids.

We need more godly mothers like this one, desperately. It's evident that culture and the media have taken over children's education. Sadly, a great deal of women have abandoned their families in order to pursue careers, and many of them are unaware of what they have done. Many women think that by working, they are providing for their families, but the truth is that your children need you, mom.

Love is spelled T.I.M.E. by children! And that is a very restricted thing. Your children are only babies for a brief period of time, and trust me when I say that you will miss it when it's over. Refuse to fall for the trick of thinking that working as a carrier offers greater fulfillment than being a mother. God gave mothers a specific role to play when it came to raising their children, so giving them up to someone else not only goes against what God intended for you to do, but you will also ultimately regret what you missed out on.

The biblical definition of motherhood has come under attack. Why do you suppose that is?

Because the adversary is aware that he can destroy the church and the country if he can destroy the home. The country is as good as its homes.

I understand that these are difficult facts to hear, but you are the center of a battle that needs to be won. One of the most significant roles in all of creation has been given to you by the Omnipotent Creator of the universe. You'll be astounded at how God can and will work in your family if you embrace motherhood instead of wasting it.

I am thankful for my godly mother's life, and because Jesus was KING of my mom’s life, one day, because Jesus is KING of my life, we will see each other again, and there will be no more good-byes. May this be the legacy that you, as a mother, leave for your children.
