Four Things Every Men's Ministry Should Promote

As I've said before, I want to emphasize that men are important.

Guys are being torn apart by our culture. We witness attacks on masculinity on all fronts. The unfortunate thing is that the majority of churches are not actively working to resolve this problem. We prioritize other ministries (youth, women, or children, for example). I want everyone to know that I have nothing against these ministries. These ministries are wonderful, too. However, I am adamant that every church ought to have a strong men's ministry to uplift and challenge the men in the congregation and the surrounding area. We can have a healthy family if we get men healthy. A man can only be made healthy by curing him of the sickness of sin, and we can only accomplish that by applying the blood and power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

There are four things that I believe every men's ministry ought to be advocating.

1. Emphasize the Bible as the main source of guidance. I realize that may seem like a no-brainer, but the Bible, or God's Word, is sadly losing significance in our churches. Some pastors tell their congregations from their pulpits that the Bible is not inspired and should not be our ultimate source of guidance in life. This has to end! God's Word must be the cornerstone of our ministry!  ( All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 2 Tim 3:16)

2. Emphasize the reasons why every man should prioritize working for the Kingdom above all else! Although we cannot guarantee tomorrow, our actions would lead you to believe otherwise. We chase after things that, in a millennium, will truly mean nothing. Our churches have been neglected to the point of near absurdity, and we would much rather our kids be involved in organizations or sports camps with no eternal purpose. According to the Bible, we should prioritize the things of God over the things of this world. Furthermore, We need to have men's ministries that encourage men to focus Jesus rather than entertainment.

(yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a  little time and then vanishes. James 4:14, --    making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:16)

3. Emphasize the idea that each Christian is called to fulfill a mission in their city. Your zip code has no bearing on whether you become a missionary. You were not called to do what your pastor is doing. As a man, your city needs YOU to rise up and seriously consider God's mission. Every man has a purpose and a task that God intends for them to complete. The first thing each of us needs to do is determine what the next best course of action is, and then take it. The atmosphere created by our men's ministries must inspire men to reach higher and seek out opportunities to serve as Christ's hands and feet.

(Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matt 28:19, --  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” Isaiah 52:7)

4. Advocate for every father and husband to be the main spiritual figure in their family. Nowadays, we delegate practically everything to professionals. It is not necessary to transfer this aspect of spiritual leadership to another person. As a husband and father, you have a spiritual duty to lead, guide, and guard your family. This is an agenda that needs to be promoted by our pastors and churches. Building a godly family is the first step in encouraging our men to leave a godly legacy.

( Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.  Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Cor. 16:13-14)

There will be a significant change in our culture and in the way we think and behave if these four principles are emphasized in churches and men's ministries across the nation, in my opinion. Additionally, I think that if there were healthy men supporting and caring for their families, the majority of the significant concerns and problems that face our country would disappear.

Bottom line: JESUS CHANGES EVERYTHING!
