The Only Reason America Is So Great...

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

The ideals upon which America was established are the only things that make us unique and remarkable. On November 11, 1620, just after the Mayflower anchored in Provincetown Harbor, the "Mayflower Compact" was signed on board.

Observe the motivation behind these men and women's visit. The following are excerpts from the Mayflower Compact's introduction:

"Having undertaken a voyage to plant the First Colony in the Northern Parts of Virginia, for the glory of God, the advancement of the Christian faith, and the honor of our King and Country..."

That's why our country was great! We ceased to be a great nation the moment we turned our backs on this. Therefore, we started to experience God's wrath at that same precise instant.

George Washington said in his farewell address, “Religion and morality are necessary conditions for the preservation of free government.”

The only way the insanity of our world can be reversed is through repentance. And I’m not even calling the lost world to repent. I’m calling on the church to repent. Repentance means a change of direction and or change of heart. We need to turn away from and forsake wordiness and turn to Christ. Jesus called the reader of Mark 1:15 to do just that. 'and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Turn from the love of self and the world and believe the good news of the death burial and resurrection of Christ for those who would believe.

We are squandering time if we do not confess our sins. Furthermore, neither political parties nor any earthly government agency can save us, help us or make a lasting impact. Christ is the only one that can do this and the only way we find peace in Christ is when we love and pursue Jesus more than we do our self and our sin.

We are in serious peril if our nation chooses not to follow King Jesus as the only one who can make a difference. We are wasting our time attempting to achieve or do anything else in this country if we are unable to surrender our lives to Christ. Not only some things, but all things belong to Jesus.

I hereby beg of you and me to confess our sins and get down on our knees today. In ten thousand years, that is the only thing that matters. How did you handle Jesus? That is the query that looms large for every person on the earth.
